Local Children Benefit from Shop with a Cop Program

Thirty-five kids get a meal and holiday gifts

Local police and volunteer fire departments teamed up with kids in need from the area to make sure they get holiday gifts and necessities. Thirty-five such children were selected for the Shop with a Cop or Firefighter program along with an entire family who lost everything to a fire earlier this month.

Children, parents and local law enforcement enjoyed pizza and dessert before heading out to do the holiday shopping at local retailers. Group photos were taken, and kids and parents zoomed off to the toy department. Each child was given about $100 to spend and told that the day was all about them.

The program was created four years ago by the Loving Police Department and the Loving Volunteer Fire Department, and money is raised through donations and fundraising events.
