Most people just want to know that they will have a comfortable bed and roof over their head when they go on vacation. Of course, when you can add some nice amenities and a great meal or two to that equation, then everyone comes out a winner. No matter what your budget, there are hotels in Carlsbad, NM that will fit your needs.

As with most cities, there are dozens of chain hotels from which to choose. Keep in mind when you’re booking your lodging that Carlsbad, NM is actually located over twenty miles from the entrance of the park. If you’re planning to stay just outside the park’s entrance, then you should look in Whites City. Whichever town you choose, you will find chain establishments that offer comfort and peace of mind. The Holiday Inn is always an excellent choice because you can expect clean rooms, excellent service, and a hot breakfast. Best Western and Comfort Inn both offer similar services, and you can also enjoy the swimming pools and fitness centers.

If you like something a bit more luxurious, then you can check out the bed and breakfasts in the area. These are often more expensive, but you can be sure that you will get top-notch personal service. There is often a gourmet meal included in the price of your stay, and you can add more meals as you see fit. These may also be located a bit further from the entrance of Carlsbad Caverns National Park, but you might find the drive worth it. A quick Internet search will show you several from which you can choose, but you can start with the Sousorrone Viento Bed and Breakfast, the RavenWind Ranch, and the Adobe Rose Bed and Breakfast. Then sit back and enjoy the pampering.

There is plenty of park to see when you visit Carlsbad Caverns, NM. The park itself covers almost fifty thousand acres of desert and mountain wilderness, and there are animals and plants within the boundaries of the park that do not coexist anywhere else in nature. Suffice it to say that you will find a host of beautiful things to see and do when you travel the Carlsbad Caverns National Park by foot.

The park is also surrounded by the Chihuahuan Desert and the Guadalupe Mountains. The desert is one of the wettest in the world and offers up some of the most stunning vegetation and wildlife that any desert possibly could. Outside of the national park, you can also find plenty of hiking adventures through the desert itself, which will lead you to more plants and animals that you would never find inside the park.

You can also ramble through the Guadalupe Mountains and explore their beauty. There are hundreds of hiking trails that crisscross the mountains, and they are available for hikers of various levels of ability. Be sure that you check before staring any of the trails, however, to make sure that you are physically able to complete the trail. There are many trails that require climbing or feature uneven walking surfaces. Getting stuck in the outdoors of Carlsbad, NM is no way to spend your dream vacation.

As always, be sure that you are adequately prepared for hiking. It is not wise to take a trip down a hiking trail on a whim. You must be sure to wear sturdy shoes, and you should also consider wearing pants to protect your legs from sharp branches and insects. Pack plenty of sunscreen and never, ever forget to take along several bottles of water!

When you take a family vacation to Carlsbad Caverns, there are so many things that you have to think about. First, you must figure out how you plan to get there, especially since the closest major airport is in El Paso, TX. If you plan to fly to the area, you will certainly need to rent a car. Then you have to think about hotels in Carlsbad, NM or the surrounding area. Remember that Carlsbad is actually located over twenty miles from the entrance to the park, so you might need to search for towns that are closer, like Whites City.

Once you have arrived in Carlsbad, NM, you might think that all of the planning comes to an end, but you would be wrong. The first time someone mentions that they’re hungry, you’ll realize that there are several meals for which you will need to plan. Luckily, there are plenty of restaurants in the area and they are ready to cater to any taste and budget.

For your breakfast, you can check out the Blue House Bakery and Café for a range of excellent baked goods and pastries. The café serves up bagels, croissants, and breads that will go perfectly with your coffee. You can also try the No Whiner Diner for hot foods like pancakes and eggs.

If you enjoy an ethnic meal, then you can check out Mi Casita for some flavorful Mexican fare. You can find some stellar dishes at the Pecos River Café or the Cortez Restaurant, as well. These restaurants offer casual dining prices, too, so you can take the whole family without burning all the cash in your wallet.

Don’t forget to check out the true flagships of the Carlsbad dining experience. The Stock Exchange and Old City Hall is considered the best in Carlsbad, and the Trinity Hotel will take you back in time as you savor a gourmet meal.

If you are planning a visit to Carlsbad Caverns with a child in the near future, you may wish to make plans to have them become involved in one of the programs the park provides specifically for kids. The Spider Cave tour offered by Carlsbad Caverns National Park is offered for children who are at least twelve years old and who do not mind tight passageways. In addition, Carlsbad Caverns also provide a number of other educational and fun opportunities for kids to learn about the wonders and natural resources of Carlsbad.

Caves are excellent for kids who are curious about their environment. For kids who want to know more about the park, the self-guided tours are a great opportunity for them to explore and answer all of their questions. The park also offers an audio guide that is produced just for children. Keep in mind that strollers are not allowed inside the actual cave, so if you have a very young child it is a good idea to bring along a baby pack. There is also a ranger guided tour as well as the chance to attend the evening bat flight program; something the kids are certain to love! The Bat Flight program is offered from mid-May to mid-October.

In order for children to tour the Kings Palace they must be a minimum of four years old. Children must be six years old to go through the Left Hand Tunnel and eight years old to tour the Slaughter Canyon Cave tour. The Lower Cave, Spider Cave and Hall of the White Giant tours are only available for children ages twelve and older. For kids who want to get an up close and personal look at the park, there is the chance to become a Junior Ranger.

This tour does require reservations. The cost for this tour is $15 for adults and $7.50 for Access Pass and Senior Pass holders as well as children. The tour lasts approximately two hours. During the fall, winter and spring the tour is offered only at 10am and only on weekends. During the summer the tour is offered daily at 10 am and 1 pm. Keep in mind that this is a strenuous hike all the way to the entrance to the cavern that spans about half a mile. The hike itself will take between thirty and forty-five minutes. Parts of the cave trail tend to be uneven, extremely slippery and narrow.

Visitors are required to walk in single file formation. You must provide your own light source. There are some areas where tall steps must be maneuvered as part of the tour. You should plan to bring your own drinking water as well as a fairly strong flashlight that is outfitted with fresh batteries. In addition, plan to wear sturdy hiking boots. Anyone participating in this tour must be at least six years old. Anyone participating in the tour under the age of sixteen must be accompanied by an adult.

You can also participate in the Natural Entrance self-guided tour at Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico. The cost for this tour is $6 for adults. Pass holders and children under the age of fifteen are admitted free. An Entrance fee ticket is required, which lasts for three days.

The cost for the tour is $20 for adults and $10 for children and pass holders. The tour lasts three hours, departing from the visitor center lobby. You should feel comfortable with navigating the case passages, some of which contain delicate formations.

There is no doubt about it; family vacations can be quite expensive.

Everyone wants to save money wherever they can on vacation, and there are dozens of ways to do that when visiting Carlsbad Caverns. Whether you are choosing budget hotels in Carlsband, NM, selecting inexpensive or fast food restaurants, or saving money on entrance fees, you can discover ways to save a bundle during your vacation.

Many people arrive at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and immediately see that there are hundreds of things to do to stay occupied. There are almost fifty thousand acres to the park, and that is all above ground. You could spend days hiking the area and enjoying the bird sanctuaries, even before you begin to explore the caves.

Once you do get to the caves, however, there are a few choices to make. You can, of course, choose to participate in the self-guided tours of Carlsbad Caverns. There are recorded Audio Guides that will allow you to tour several of the caverns at your own pace. There are many benefits to this, especially if you think you might have trouble keeping up with a crowd. The self-guided tours are also free, which can take a lot of strain off the wallet.

You should keep in mind, however, that there are several caverns that you will not see on the self-guided tours. Some of the most famous caves in Carlsbad Caverns are only seen during Ranger-guided tours, such as The Hall of the White Giant, Lower Cave, Spider Cave, and Slaughter Canyon Cave. These cavern tours are guided for good reason, too, because you will encounter slippery floors, tight squeezes, steep inclines, and low ceilings. You will also, however, see some of the most beautiful cave formations in the world, and these are things that you will miss out on if you choose the self-guided tours. Just keep that in mind.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located southeastern New Mexico, approximately 23 miles from Carlsbad, New Mexico and about 150 miles from El Paso, Texas. While you might imagine Carlsbad to be the closest town, the entrance to the park is actually located in Whites City. This is something to keep in mind when you are seeking out lodging for your trip. Many people do choose to stay in Carlsbad, but if you want something a bit closer, you will need to search in Whites City.

There is a wealth of beauty and nature that surrounds the park. If you are planning to drive in or rent a car once you arrive, then you should certainly check out the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway. This road cuts through the Lincoln National Forest and passes such attractions as the Hubbard Museum of the American West, Fort Stanton, and the Lincoln State Monument. You can also visit the Smokey the Bear Museum and Park.

Of course, the main attraction for your trip is Carlsbad Caverns, which offers several Ranger-guided and self-guided tours. You can visit the birding areas or get up before dawn to watch thousands of bats return to roost. The caverns themselves are extensive and offer plenty of fodder for the imagination. Just be sure that you pack comfortable shoes and clothes, because the caves can be dirty and they contain a few tight squeezes and slick floors.

The summer is the most popular time to visit, of course, because children are out of school. You might consider traveling outside of peak times, however, if you would like to see the park without fighting the crowds. Just remember that many of the special programs that the park offers only take place during summer months, so you need to visit before October to get the best experiences with the Bat Flight Program or the Star Parties.
